MY BIOGRAPHY
It isn't everyday that you read about a true success story, especially where models are concerned. There's always that illusion; the smoke and mirrors approach to fame and fortune. You know the rich daddy, the producer boyfriend, the family's show business connections, etc... It always seems that most successful people took a shortcut or got a break...somehow, some way. What about this particular success story: an Internet model becomes a fitness superstar. That's pretty good, right? Well, let's take that equation to the next level. How about this instead: a small town girl turns popular Internet model then becomes an American fitness superstar who parlays into an international supermodel! Now that's what we truly call 1 in a billion, a success story that will likely never repeat in our lifetimes.
Without further a due it's time to meet the woman behind the legend. In walks Dana Hamm. When you look at Dana, you have to do a double-take. You want to study her face. She is unreal -- those fabled green eyes that shine like jewels and turn upwards at the outer corners with an alluring hint of wicked sex appeal. Then your gaze moves down to her chiseled cheekbones and small doll-like nose. The visual feast of her beauty is topped off by her full pillowy lips that have a signature shape coveted by many. It is obvious that Dana was destined for something big. She was meant to be a star.
Dana was born and raised in a small southern town in the United States. You might be surprised to know that she wasn't a high school heartthrob or beauty pageant queen. In fact, she describes herself as a, "skinny tomboy". She was just an average student not particularly popular or active in the student body. However, she was a promising athlete who excelled in sprinting, volleyball, tennis, and you've got it...weight-lifting.
Dana's interest in weight-training began when she was only 14 years old. "I wanted to change my skinny body so badly, and I knew the only way to improve it was to workout and attempt to shape it. I was so extremely thin that boys didn't like me. As a teenager that was the worst feeling. Sometimes, I could overhear them talking about me and saying how my face was pretty, but they would never date me because I was too skinny."
Dana's mother took her to K-Mart, a popular department store, and bought her a set of plastic dumbbells and some fitness magazines. A star was in the making! At only 14 yrs old Dana began weight-training in her bedroom and working out to her mother's aerobic videos. Two years later she would purchase her first gym membership at a hole in the wall place where she was the only female.
By the time Dana graduated high school, she still hadn't been discovered as a model. Living in a town of 60,000 didn't prove beneficial for superstardom either. So, she did what any responsible girl her age would have, and with the help of her parents she enrolled in college. That's when things started looking up for the green-eyed beauty. When choosing her 1st semester of fall classes, she carelessly signed-up for "weight-training" as an elective. From there Dana started getting fitness modeling opportunities far away from the small town she was used to.
In fact, after her very first photo shoot, she landed on the cover of a popular American fitness magazine. Soon after, she teamed-up with famed fitness photographer, Michael-Scott. He saw something in Dana that heÕd never ever seen in another model. ÒDana was just special. She had all the right ingredients to make a powerhouse fitness model, but I also saw in her the potential to be bigger than fitness. She had star qualityÉshe had that ÒitÓ factor that people are drawn to. She was also extremely versatile and easy to work with. She was hungry for success, and she didnÕt have those typical vices that most beautiful women fall victim to. She had a clean record Ð no drug habits, drinking problems, or long list of relationships gone wrong. I could see true beauty in her...both inside and out.Ó
Michael and Dana made the ultimate team, and they dominated the fitness magazines with their awe-inspiring images. Dana was frequently featured in magazine pictorials that exceeded 36-pages! DanaÕs sexy images were appearing in fitness magazines more often than Mr. Olympia, pro bodybuilders, and all the top fitness competitors combined! She had a monopoly in progress. In fact, it wasnÕt uncommon to see Dana on the covers of 2 magazines during the same month. Soon it was clear that the brunette model had accomplished the highest honors the fitness industry could offer.
The next obvious step for Dana was to go mainstream with her career; a feat that most fitness models cannot successfully pull off. However, Dana had no obstacles in making the transition, and her look proved to have global appeal. She appeared in multi-page editorial features in magazines such as: FHM, The Girls of FHM, Maxim, Stuff, Femme Fatales, The Sun, Stun, Esquire, GQ, Razor, Loaded, Zoo and more! She even branched out with her own line of sexy calendars and wall posters sold in retail stores worldwide. Dana also strutted down the catwalk for companies like Bebe, Lucky Brand Jeans, and Playboy swimwear.
The information age has treated Dana very well. Google her name once and watch what happens. YouÕll find over 200,000 results! MySpace and YouTube voted Dana Hamm as one of the worldÕs most beautiful women 2-years in a row. She is listed on the first page of GoogleÕs sexiest women alive along with Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox, Charlize Theron, and Scarlett Johansson. And Dana hasnÕt even appeared on the big screen yet! However, with big names like Michael Bay, Jeph Loeb, Hugh Hefner, Alexis Vogel, Paul Marciano, and Quentin Tarantino on speed dial, itÕs only a matter of time.
Dana does not live in Hollywood or Los Angeles, but oddly enough Tinsel town is already buzzing about this obscure beauty. In fact, she is currently reading almost a dozen film scripts, but the biggest thing to happen to Dana Hamm in recent months is GUESS Jeans! Back in early fall, Paul Marciano, the president and founder of Guess Jeans himself came knocking on DanaÕs door! He hand-picked her as his Ònext top modelÓ after seeing her images on MySpace! He was quoted by sources as describing Dana as his, Òdream girlÓ.
DanaÕs next big career adventure involves becoming a book author. Yes, thatÕs right, sheÕs writing a book! ÒMy book is going to be really interesting and packed with photos, but itÕs also going to address some real issues within the show business industry.
